Channing Dungey is keeping the top job at Warner Bros. Television Group — and adding a much larger network portfolio to it. In a staff memo on Tuesday, she confirmed she will join Skydance’s new executive leadership team and take on Paramount Media Networks, including MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET, alongside the WBD U.S. networks she has run since early 2025. She had reported directly to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
Dungey has led WBTVG since 2021. Under the new structure, she reports to JB Perrette, Skydance TV’s co-chair and chief business officer, and George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer. She will work alongside Paramount Television Studios president Matt Thunell and CBS Studios president David Stapf.
The slate she is bringing into the new structure
The memo leads with scale, not just titles. Dungey told staff the studio has secured 13 new series orders and 13 renewals since January, and its current slate tops 80 titles across more than 20 platforms.
- Studio: Warner Bros. Television Group, with 13 orders and 13 renewals this year.
- Networks: WBD U.S. networks plus MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET.
- Reporting: JB Perrette and George Cheeks at Skydance TV.
- Studio peers: Matt Thunell of Paramount Television Studios and David Stapf of CBS Studios.
Dungey also named recent performers, including Ted Lasso, The Pitt, Lanterns and the season premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and said The Jennifer Hudson Show has crossed 11 billion social views.
Why media buyers should track this
The leadership change places a broad ad-supported cable portfolio and one of Hollywood’s biggest suppliers under one management group. That does not yet mean a new ad sales or packaging plan, but it is the kind of structural move that can make coordinated network strategy easier to execute later.
Dungey acknowledged the uncertainty of the transition. “I don’t have all the answers today — some things will come into focus quickly, while others will take more time to figure out — but I am committed to keeping you as informed as I can as we move forward,” she wrote. Staff were directed to the Skydance Integration Hub for updates.
The indicator to watch
The early signal is portfolio breadth. With three studio chiefs aligned under Cheeks and Perrette, and Dungey holding both studio and network oversight, watch for integrated content or sales announcements rather than the memo itself. The numbers tell buyers the supply pipeline is active; the structure tells them where that supply may be coordinated next.
