Disney+ and Vidio Build an Indonesian Streaming Bundle

Disney+ leans on Indonesia's Vidio for local bundle

Disney+ is deepening its Asia-Pacific distribution play through a new bundle and content-sharing agreement with Vidio, Indonesia’s most-watched streaming platform. Announced Thursday, the partnership creates the Vidio Ultimate Disney+ All Screen Bundle, combining Disney films, franchises and Asian originals with Vidio’s local programming, live television and sports rights.

What the bundle includes

  • Disney+ catalogue: films, global franchises and Asian originals.
  • Vidio catalogue: local series, live TV and sports, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Indonesia’s BRI Super League.
  • A “Taste of Disney+” sampler inside every standard Vidio subscription, with select episodes of Flex X Cop season 2, High Potential, Sofia the First and Grey’s Anatomy.
  • A planned reciprocal layer giving Disney+ subscribers curated Vidio originals and Indonesian sinetron, with details still under discussion.

The partners did not disclose pricing or financial terms, which leaves the value equation open for marketers. But the mechanics are clear: Vidio becomes the acquisition surface, while Disney+ is positioned as the premium upsell.

Why the sampler is the story

The “Taste of Disney+” collection is the most instructive part of the deal. Instead of asking Indonesian viewers to take a separate Disney+ subscription, Disney is embedding a periodically refreshed selection inside a product they already use. That lowers trial risk and gives Vidio a retention hook. For media planners, it is a reminder that in price-sensitive markets, bundled discovery can outperform a standalone subscription pitch.

Tony Zameczkowski, Disney’s senior VP and general manager of direct-to-consumer for Asia-Pacific, called Indonesia “an incredibly exciting market” and framed the announcement as part of a focus on accelerating collaborations that expand Disney+’s reach in APAC. Vidio CEO Sutanto Hartono said audiences want “greater choice and better value” and described the bundle as making it easier to enjoy local stories, global entertainment and sports in one subscription.

The wider APAC pattern

This is not a one-off. Disney already has similar arrangements with South Korea’s TVING, Hulu Japan, SPOTV, Astro and TBS. The company also plans to roughly triple Disney+’s annual output of international original series over the next three years, from around 60 to 70 shows this year, with Asia-Pacific central to that push.

Vidio brings local scale: it has produced more than 110 original series and, according to Media Partners Asia, has ranked first among Indonesian streaming platforms for viewership for the past four years. For Disney, partnering with the market leader is a faster route to reach than fighting for direct sign-ups alone.

What to watch

Marketers should track three things: the eventual bundle price, whether Disney reports sampler-to-bundle conversion, and how quickly the reciprocal Disney+ side launches. If the bundle lands close to Vidio’s premium tier, it could reset value expectations for streaming in Southeast Asia. If it stays high, the sampler will be doing more of the selling.
