The streamer joins the broadcast
Disney+ will livestream Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027, in the U.S. and more than 55 international markets, including Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, South Africa, and Australia and New Zealand. It will carry the main ESPN production — Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge on the call — and the ESPN Deportes Spanish-language feed.
ESPN’s linear platforms will broadcast the game in more than 130 countries and territories. Outside the U.S. and China, DAZN holds streaming rights for the 2026-27 NFL season through NFL Game Pass in over 200 countries, so Disney’s international stream is additive only inside its own footprint, not a clean global sweep.
Disney’s approach is simple: the Super Bowl becomes an included extra for Disney+ subscribers, not a separate pay-per-view. That removes a purchase decision and makes the game a retention event as much as an acquisition one.
Why the ad sellout is the real headline
Disney said in August that ad inventory for Super Bowl LXI had sold out, the earliest a broadcaster has announced a sellout for Super Bowl commercials. The company counted 58 brands across 34 categories, including nine first-time Super Bowl advertisers.
If an advertiser gives up a slot, Disney is seeking $10 million to $12 million per 30-second commercial, Variety reported. For media buyers, that changes the unit economics: a Super Bowl spot is no longer just an ESPN or ABC buy; it is a combined-audience package that includes Disney+ households.
The nine first-time Super Bowl buyers are also worth watching. New advertisers often signal categories trying to convert a broad live audience, and they are usually the first to press for performance evidence after the game.
Disney+ builds a fuller sports front
Super Bowl LXI is the tentpole, but it arrives with additional streaming inventory. Disney+ will carry two Monday Night Football matchups this season:
- Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026 (Week 7).
- A second game to be announced later.
Both games continue on ESPN, ABC and ESPN Deportes, and Disney+ will offer English- and Spanish-language broadcasts. The streamer already shows select ESPN college football games and College GameDay each week, and Formula E races will arrive later this year in the U.S. and most international markets. All Monday Night Football and Super Bowl programming stays on the ESPN App in the U.S.
The Monday Night Football pair is the lead-up. Cowboys at Eagles gives Disney+ a high-interest regular-season run before the Feb. 14 game, with a second matchup still to be set.
The bundle question
Disney’s bet is that the NFL is the strongest subscriber magnet it can put on Disney+. A Super Bowl simulcast pulls both sports viewers and general-entertainment households into the same app, giving Disney a reason to sell total-audience impressions rather than a TV rating alone.
Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which last hosted the 2022 championship game. For planners, the venue is secondary; the real variable is whether Disney+ can report incremental streaming impressions that justify the sellout pricing.
For media planners, the post-game metric is not only viewership: it is whether a one-day event converts into retained subscribers and supports future bundled sports ad guarantees. If it does, expect more marquee games to become regular Disney+ inventory.
