Channel 4 and Paramount have agreed a UK advertising sales partnership that makes Channel 4 Sales the exclusive sales house for Channel 5 and Paramount’s UK networks from 2027, the companies announced on September 16.
The network line-up
The deal pulls a broad set of linear brands under one sales operation. Channel 4 Sales will represent Channel 5, preschool brand Milkshake!, and the digital channels 5USA, 5Star, 5Select and 5Action. It also adds Paramount’s MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon to the same buying point.
- Channel 5 and Milkshake!
- 5USA, 5Star, 5Select, 5Action
- MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon
For advertisers, that creates a combined portfolio spanning Channel 4 dramas such as Tip Toe and Dirty Business, unscripted formats like Virgin Island, Channel 5 scripted hits All Creatures Great & Small and The Hardacres, and sports including the NFL and Tour de France.
What changes for media planners
Instead of managing separate negotiations across two public-service broadcasters, buyers get one access point and a larger combined audience. The structure is designed to reduce friction while giving brands a broader content environment for campaigns. In practice, that means a single brief, a single contract and a single set of measurement conversations across a much wider channel set.
Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra called the move a “groundbreaking collaboration” and said it would give advertisers access to premium brands and larger audiences while supporting British programming investment. Channel 5 president Reemah Sakaan said advertisers get “a scale and targeting proposition they won’t find anywhere else.”
Why the 2027 start date matters
The lead time gives agencies and brands room to rework planning models before the new sales structure goes live. For ScreenStat readers, the useful question is not just who sells what, but whether the combined portfolio changes how budgets are allocated.
- Model Channel 4 and Channel 5 as a combined reach base rather than separate buys.
- Ask whether kids, music and comedy channels become added-value elements inside broader packages.
- Compare current two-seller pricing against the future one-seller pricing during the transition.
What to watch
The next planning cycle becomes a test case for how the market absorbs this new scale. Watch for cross-portfolio packages, any shift in share of broadcaster ad revenue, and whether Channel 4 Sales pushes more data-driven buying across the combined channel set.
