Baththa day 12: Rs 24.61 crore net vs Sigma

Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa added Rs 1.20 crore in India net collections on its twelfth day, from 1,649 shows, according to trade data compiled by Sacnilk. That is a drop from the Rs 3.10 crore it collected on Sunday, the kind of weekday decline expected after a strong second weekend. The film’s cumulative India net now stands at Rs 24.61 crore, with an India gross of Rs 28.46 crore.

The gap between net and gross is worth reading carefully. Net collections are what remains after entertainment tax is removed; gross includes the tax. For a media planner sizing up a film’s earning power, the net figure is the cleaner indicator of actual distributor share.

Sigma is not closing the gap

Jason Sanjay’s debut film Sigma, led by Sundeep Kishan, has accumulated Rs 8.69 crore in India net and a reported worldwide gross of Rs 9.87 crore. It opened at Rs 1.50 crore on October 2, softened through the weekdays, and recovered only modestly over its second weekend: Rs 14 lakh on Saturday, Rs 16 lakh on Sunday, and Rs 13 lakh on Monday, October 12.

That puts Baththa at nearly three times Sigma’s total at the same stage. The performance gap matters less as a creative verdict and more as a signal about audience intent and screen retention. Distributors keep shows alive for films that hold, and Baththa’s 1,649 shows on day 12 suggest exhibitors still see demand.

What to watch next

  • Watch whether Baththa holds above Rs 1 crore on weekdays after the second weekend; that would signal a third-week hold.
  • Watch Sigma’s show count, not just its daily number, to see if theatres give it another week.
  • Compare the films’ day-12 show counts rather than just totals, because higher shows give a bigger collection runway.

For marketing and distribution teams, the practical lesson is to read the second-weekend hold alongside the Monday drop. A single lower Monday is normal; the more useful signal is whether a film keeps theatres and returns to growth on the next Saturday.
