Mirzapur: The Movie crosses ₹300 crore worldwide in 17 days

Mirzapur: The Movie moved from streaming chatter to a theatrical milestone on Day 17, crossing ₹300 crore in worldwide gross. The Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu-led gangster drama added ₹5 crore net in India on its third Sunday, according to trade reporting by Sacnilk.

Day 17 box office at a glance

The ₹5 crore net Sunday came from 4,402 shows, pushing the 17-day India net total to ₹215.70 crore. On a gross basis, domestic collections stand at ₹256.84 crore.

Overseas added a smaller ₹0.75 crore on Day 17, bringing the total overseas gross to ₹52 crore. Combined with domestic gross, the worldwide figure is ₹308.84 crore.

  • India net: ₹215.70 crore
  • Domestic gross: ₹256.84 crore
  • Overseas gross: ₹52 crore
  • Worldwide gross: ₹308.84 crore
  • Day 17 India net: ₹5 crore from 4,402 shows

The film is now the fourth Bollywood release of 2026 to cross ₹300 crore in worldwide gross.

The OTT-to-theatrical signal

Mirzapur is not a typical theatrical franchise. It was built on Amazon Prime Video, where the original series has run for three seasons and has a fourth season in development. The film, presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, is effectively a streaming brand taking a theatrical window.

That makes the box-office split meaningful. Domestic gross is doing most of the work, while overseas is steady but not dominant. The audience appears to be a pre-built fan base from the series rather than a global theatrical audience discovering the film cold.

Releasing the film in Hindi and Telugu on September 4 also widened the domestic addressable market, giving the title access to non-Hindi audiences in India.

What media planners should track

The next signal is the hold rate after the third weekend. A ₹5 crore net Sunday on 4,402 shows is a solid daily contribution at this stage, but the franchise’s full value will depend on weekday retention and whether the theatrical run feeds demand back into the upcoming fourth season on Prime Video.

For media buyers, the same title is simultaneously a Prime Video franchise and a theatrical event, which means brand partnerships can be planned across both a cinema window and the streaming catalogue.

For OTT and theatrical strategists, Mirzapur is now a reference point for reverse windowing: a streaming-born IP generating box-office gross while keeping its core streaming asset alive.
