Netflix US is adding Run the World, the canceled Starz half-hour comedy, on November 17, 2026. Both seasons — 16 episodes in total — will be available. The move matters less as a revival story and more as a window story: another Lionsgate/Starz title is moving through Netflix as limited-time catalog inventory.
The timing closes a loop. In September 2023, Starz canceled Run the World, Heels and Blindspotting together. Heels reached Netflix in September 2024 and then left after its license ran. Blindspotting arrives the same day as Run the World, so all three have now passed through Netflix.
What Netflix viewers are getting
Created by Leigh Davenport, the series follows four thirty-something Black women in Harlem as they navigate work, friendship and relationships. Season 1 showrunner Yvette Lee Bowser and season 2 showrunner Rachelle Williams-BenAry led production, and Patricia Field handled wardrobe, which gives the show a distinctive fashion lane.
The main cast includes Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb and Corbin Reid, with Bordeaux absent in season 2. Season 1 premiered on Starz in May 2021 and season 2 in May 2023; the final episode aired July 14, 2023.
Why the license window matters
For media planners and entertainment marketers, this is the part to watch. Recent Starz pickups have been short-lived. Spartacus and Nashville each got about 12 months before departing in September 2026. Run the World looks like a similar finite run, and the source reports it is expected to be exclusive to Netflix in the US for now.
- November 17, 2026: both seasons arrive, 16 episodes total.
- US-only at present; other regions are unconfirmed.
- Expect a short window, not a permanent library addition.
- A season 3 revival is possible in theory but rare in practice.
- Power franchise titles are also due on Netflix US in November.
Don’t confuse a license with a revival
Heels fans hoped for new episodes when that show landed; none came. The recent exception is The Hunting Wives, which earned a Netflix renewal after stalling at Starz, but canceled dramas and comedies rarely get that outcome. A strong top 10 run could help Run the World, but currently there is no signal that Netflix will order new episodes.
How to play it
Treat this as a launch-spike asset. Interest will concentrate around November 17, and the show’s Harlem workplace-social setting, plus its fashion identity, gives creative teams clear visual and cultural cues for contextual campaigns. If you plan to use Run the World in co-viewing or social content, schedule around the arrival window instead of assuming it will still be on the service a year later.
The wider pattern is simpler than any single title: Lionsgate and Starz catalog is flowing through Netflix in shorter, tactical deals. That changes availability calendars and makes timeliness part of the buy.
