Sunny Deol and Esha Deol set for November 20 clash

The November 20, 2026, release calendar now has an unusual family angle. Sunny Deol’s crime thriller Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak and Pratap, the film that returns Esha Deol to cinemas after a long break, are both scheduled for the same day.

A same date, two different investigations

Suryaa is directed by M. Padmakumar and puts Sunny Deol in a rugged lead. The first look and motion poster have already been released, and the film is positioned around hidden secrets, unanswered questions and a search for justice. Ravi Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal appear in significant roles, with Kamal Mukut presenting and Deepak Mukut, Hemant Mukut and Lokesh Mukut producing.

Pratap, directed by Sachin Saraf and produced by Pradeep Rangwani under UV Films, has Amit Sadh playing a decorated Mumbai encounter specialist. The cast also includes Esha Deol, Seema Biswas, Milind Gunaji and Tigmanshu Dhulia. For Esha Deol, it marks a theatrical return after an extended absence, and it lands in the same weekend as her father’s film.

Why a family clash is not just a headline

For entertainment marketers, the same-day release is a split-screen test of audience overlap. Both films are crime-focused, so they will be fishing in the same genre pool rather than cleanly counterprogramming each other. The family overlap may generate curiosity, but the first job is still to convert that attention into opening-day ticket buyers.

  • Opening-day split: Which film takes the stronger morning occupancy, and does the family angle lift both?
  • Genre overlap: Two crime stories on one date could divide the same audience instead of widening it.
  • Return value: Esha Deol’s comeback may draw attention from lapsed Hindi-film viewers while Sunny Deol leads a crime thriller.

What to watch

Track the first weekend as a paired experiment. If one title opens sharply and the other trails, that tells you which positioning connected—not just which star is bigger. The more useful number may be opening-day occupancy by region, because both films will need to defend their share of screens before the next release cycle arrives.

Don’t write off Pratap on day one if it opens lower; a smaller film can hold if word-of-mouth is good and the single-screen audience responds to the encounter-specialist story. But a soft start for Suryaa would be a bigger signal, given the lead star’s pull.
