BondIt Media Capital, Buffalo 8 Distribution and Sandaled Kid Productions are pooling finance, distribution and production for a run of three high-concept horror films aimed at a 2027 VOD window.
How the slate breaks down
The arrangement is deliberately split among specialists.
- BondIt Media Capital will finance the three pictures.
- Buffalo 8 Distribution will release them.
- Sandaled Kid Productions will develop and produce.
- James Cullen Bressack and Matthew Helderman will executive produce.
The deal was negotiated by Bressack and Helderman. No titles, filmmakers or shooting schedules have been disclosed.
Bressack, founder of Sandaled Kid, framed the slate as “bold, commercial genre filmmaking.” Helderman, CEO and co-founder of BondIt and Buffalo 8, said it reflects “continued expansion and focus on greenlighting new commercial projects for VOD audiences.”
Why the structure is the story
For distribution and programming professionals, the instructive detail is the order of operations: financing and distribution are attached before any titles, directors or production schedules are announced. That flips the usual indie model, where a package is often assembled first and then shopped for a buyer.
BondIt launched in 2013 as a capital provider focused on guild deposit costs. Buffalo 8 began in 2010 as an independent media studio spanning production, post-production and distribution. Sandaled Kid, launched in 2020, has kept to micro- and mid-budget genre films, with Bressack’s credits including “Darkness of Man,” “Hot Seat” and “Fortress.”
What this signals for VOD
A three-picture horror slate with distribution already attached suggests the partners are underwriting a volume play rather than a single breakout bet. Horror remains a dependable genre for on-demand programme supply, and a pre-sold slate can share marketing and delivery costs across titles. For financiers, that division of labour can make budgets and delivery timelines more predictable.
For media planners and entertainment marketers, the news is a supply-side signal: expect more original, mid-budget genre films packaged for VOD windows rather than wide theatrical runs. The companies are not new to each other; Bressack is described as a longtime collaborator with both BondIt and Buffalo 8, and Helderman said the slate continues the companies’ push into original commercial projects for VOD audiences.
The creative details will matter, but the real test is whether three untitled originals can cut through a crowded catalogue. That answer arrives in 2027.
