Drishyam 3 has crossed ₹309.50 crore in India net collections in its first ten days, according to trade figures collated by Sacnilk. That makes the Ajay Devgn thriller his biggest theatrical release to date.
The 10-day run in numbers
Advance bookings opened on September 27 and collected ₹27 crore before release. The film then opened to ₹66.75 crore net on day one — the third-biggest Hindi opening on record and the biggest opener of Devgn’s career.
- Day 1: ₹66.75 crore net
- Saturday: ₹53.50 crore
- Sunday: ₹61 crore
- Week 1: ₹245.50 crore
- Second Saturday: ₹26.50 crore
- Latest update: ₹23 crore, taking the total to ₹309.50 crore
The Monday after the opening weekend dropped to ₹21 crore, about 65.6% below Sunday, with Tuesday at ₹19.50 crore and Wednesday at ₹15.50 crore. The second-weekend recovery shows the audience returned after the mid-week dip.
Why the milestone matters
Drishyam 3 has now overtaken the lifetime hauls of Drishyam 2 and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior to become Ajay Devgn’s highest-grossing release. That resets his personal ceiling and confirms the commercial pull of a franchise finale.
The film brings back Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant, with a Saurabh Shukla cameo. Abhishek Pathak directs for Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios, with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh co-writing.
The franchise context makes the number clearer. The 2015 original collected around ₹110 crore worldwide; Drishyam 2 in 2022 pushed that to nearly ₹342 crore worldwide. The third instalment’s ₹309.50 crore India net has arrived in ten days, not over the full run.
What media planners should take from it
This is not a slow word-of-mouth build. A ₹27 crore advance and a ₹66.75 crore opening day show pre-sold demand, and the second-Saturday recovery to ₹26.50 crore means fence-sitters returned once reviews landed. For marketers, franchise finales should be planned as two-weekend events: front-load opening-week inventory, keep a second-weekend burst, and trade on the legacy of the earlier films rather than waiting for discovery.
The next benchmark to watch is whether Drishyam 3 can stretch past Drishyam 2’s worldwide haul. That will show whether the finale has repeat-viewing pull or simply concentrated the franchise’s existing audience into the opening stretch.
