All 8 Episodes of 'Blade Runner 2099' Hit Prime Video Nov 25

The announcement

Prime Video chose New York Comic Con to reveal a new trailer for “Blade Runner 2099,” a limited series set 50 years after “Blade Runner 2049” in a rebuilt Los Angeles. All eight episodes premiere Nov. 25 on Prime Video.

The story pairs fugitive Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, with Olwen, a near-death Replicant played by Michelle Yeoh. They are forced to work together to track a runaway who holds a truth that could collapse the city.

The strategic read

For streaming executives, this is a legacy-IP play built for a concentrated launch. Prime Video is pairing a known sci-fi property with Yeoh’s global draw and Schafer’s younger reach. A convention-floor trailer debut at New York Comic Con also gives the series fan-press coverage and social momentum before the premiere.

The date does strategic work. Nov. 25 lands the day before US Thanksgiving, a window when viewing time rises and platforms chase household co-viewing. Dropping all eight episodes at once lets Prime Video pitch the series as a long-weekend binge rather than a weekly appointment.

Blade Runner’s screen history raises the stakes. Ridley Scott’s 1982 original and Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” in 2017 made the franchise shorthand for high-design sci-fi. “Blade Runner 2099” is showrun by Silka Luisa, with Scott among the executive producers and Jonathan van Tulleken directing the first two episodes.

What to watch

The relevant numbers for media planners will arrive after Nov. 25:

  • First-week completion, to see whether the all-at-once drop holds viewers through all eight episodes.
  • Co-viewing share during the holiday weekend, a signal for family-audience reach.
  • The demo split between existing Blade Runner fans and first-time viewers drawn by Schafer or Yeoh.

The launch structure is simple: one limited series, one date, one global platform. That makes “Blade Runner 2099” a clean test of whether a premium sci-fi brand can become a binge-sized streaming event rather than a theatrical one.
