Baththa Day 6: Rs 12.75 cr; Mandaadi crosses Rs 100 cr

Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa held its ground in the first weekday stretch, while Soori’s Mandaadi became the latest Tamil film to cross the Rs 100 crore India net mark on Day 27. The two updates, drawn from Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India, show very different stages of a theatrical run.

Baththa: a small Tuesday bounce

Baththa collected Rs 1.40 crore India net on Day 6, up 7.7% from Rs 1.30 crore on Monday. Six-day net total stands at Rs 12.75 crore, with India gross at Rs 14.78 crore. The film played 1,252 shows, up slightly from 1,214 on Monday; Day 6 footfalls were 120,854, pushing cumulative admissions past 1.06 million.

The occupancy split tells the more useful story. Overall occupancy moved from 25% to 26%, but night shows ran at 39.18% while mornings sat at 16.73%. That gap means the film is still an evening-led title rather than an all-day hold.

  • Day 1: Rs 1.50 cr, 24% occupancy, 1,337 shows
  • Day 2: Rs 2.70 cr, 47% occupancy, 1,187 shows
  • Day 4: Rs 3.10 cr, 48% occupancy, 1,290 shows
  • Day 5: Rs 1.30 cr, 25% occupancy, 1,214 shows
  • Day 6: Rs 1.40 cr, 26% occupancy, 1,252 shows

State splits show concentration. Of the Rs 1.60 crore Day 6 gross, Tamil Nadu contributed Rs 1.17 crore, roughly 73%; Kerala added Rs 20 lakh, Karnataka Rs 15 lakh and the Telugu states Rs 8 lakh. This is a regional performer, not a multi-market breakout.

Mandaadi crosses the Rs 100 crore line

Mandaadi reached Rs 100.01 crore India net on Day 27, adding Rs 29 lakh from 638 shows. India gross stood at Rs 116.58 crore, overseas gross at Rs 17.95 crore, and worldwide gross at Rs 134.53 crore.

The film’s week-by-week arc shows how milestones are built: Rs 57.30 crore in week one, Rs 26.00 crore in week two, and Rs 12.27 crore in week three. Fourth-week earnings are now small, but Tuesday’s Rs 29 lakh was only 3.3% below Monday’s Rs 30 lakh, even at 14% occupancy.

Why the two holds matter

For media planners and content buyers, Baththa‘s Tuesday bump after a Monday fall is an early signal that word of mouth may be doing some work. For the trade, Mandaadi is a benchmark: a mid-sized Tamil actioner needs a strong first week, a solid second-week hold and steady low-cost late-run shows to reach Rs 100 crore net. Baththa is not on that path yet, but holding above Monday’s number is the first small test.
