Drishyam 3's ₹273 crore opening weekend tops Raid 2 and Bhooth Bangla

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 opened on October 2 with a worldwide weekend gross of ₹273 crore, making it the seventh-biggest opening weekend for a Hindi film and placing it among the highest-grossing 2026 releases after just three days.

The opening weekend, by the numbers

The Abhishek Pathak-directed film came into release with ₹50 crore in India advance gross. Friday delivered ₹62 crore net domestic and ₹93 crore worldwide. Saturday added ₹53.50 crore net; Sunday added another ₹61 crore net.

  • Friday net: ₹62 crore
  • Saturday net: ₹53.50 crore
  • Sunday net: ₹61 crore
  • Domestic 3-day net: ₹176.50 crore
  • Domestic 3-day gross: ₹211.80 crore
  • Worldwide gross: ₹273 crore
  • Overseas: just over $6 million

Overseas held steady, contributing a little over $6 million across international territories, which is better than most of Devgn’s recent films.

How the opening compares

In one weekend, Drishyam 3 has already overtaken the lifetime collections of several recent big-budget films: Ajay Devgn’s own Raid 2 at ₹243 crore, Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla at ₹247 crore and Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par at ₹266 crore. On the all-time Hindi opening-weekend table, it sits almost level with Sultan and ahead of War and Tiger 3.

To become Devgn’s highest-grossing film, it still has work to do. The franchise benchmarks are Drishyam 2 at ₹347 crore and Tanhaji at ₹367 crore.

What this means for the screen business

A theatrical opening of this size changes downstream conversations. For streaming platforms, satellite buyers and brand partners, a ₹273 crore weekend is a stronger signal for licensing value and campaign reach. Media planners should watch the first Monday: a strong hold would indicate the film has legs beyond its built-in franchise audience.

The cast includes returning names Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant, with Saurabh Shukla in a cameo and new entrants Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj. The franchise’s consistency is itself a business asset. The release date, October 2, carries special weight for the series, which fans recognise as a franchise ritual.

What to watch next

The first Monday will be the first real test of legs. If the first week stays strong, Drishyam 3 will climb the 2026 chart quickly and could realistically challenge the ₹347 crore and ₹367 crore franchise records.
