Drishyam 3 clears Rs 100 cr in two days

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has cleared the Rs 100 crore mark in India net collection within two days of release, making it the fastest film in the franchise to cross the milestone.

Day 2 in numbers

According to early data from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 39.84 crore net on Day 2 as of Saturday evening. With the opening day’s roughly Rs 62 crore, the India net total now stands at Rs 101.84 crore, while India gross has reached Rs 121.41 crore.

The film is playing across 14,657 shows in India, with Saturday occupancy at around 42% before the evening and night shows. Final Day 2 figures are expected to rise once those late shows are reported.

Why the second day matters

Openings are bought by advance bookings and fan demand. The Saturday hold is a stronger signal of word-of-mouth. Drishyam 3 dropped from its Friday high, as expected, but held enough to clear Rs 100 crore in two days — faster than the previous instalments.

For distributors and exhibitors, that changes the weekend arithmetic. A sequel that opens big and falls sharply is a risk; a franchise finale that opens big and holds becomes a weekday proposition too.

The numbers so far

  • Opening day: around Rs 62 crore net.
  • Day 2, as of evening: Rs 39.84 crore net.
  • Two-day India net: Rs 101.84 crore.
  • Two-day India gross: Rs 121.41 crore.
  • Shows and occupancy: 14,657 shows, roughly 42%.

For reference, trade trackers report India net after entertainment tax, which is why the net figure sits below gross. The gap between the two here is about Rs 19.5 crore.

What the franchise brings

The third and final Hindi Drishyam film brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, joined by Tabu, Shriya Saran and the earlier cast, with Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj added. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film released on October 2 and is meant to close Vijay Salgaonkar’s story.

The franchise has always been built on narrative rather than scale, which makes the hold more meaningful for the trade: audiences are returning for the story, not just the spectacle.

What to watch next

Sunday and the Monday number will show whether this is a two-day event or a longer run. The October 2 release positions the film against a holiday weekend, and the absence of a competing major release in the same window works in its favour.

For media planners and entertainment marketers, the data points are already useful: a franchise finale drawing around 42% occupancy across nearly 15,000 shows on a Saturday is a strong case for reach in cinema advertising. The full weekend break-up will tell whether the audience is broadening beyond the core franchise fan.
