Mirzapur The Movie is now in its fifth week, and the box-office story has shifted from opening firepower to holdover discipline. On Day 28 (Thursday, October 1), the action gangster drama added Rs 60 lakh in India net collections across 1,185 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.
That is a 9.1% rise over Wednesday’s Rs 55 lakh, even as show count declined from 1,219 to 1,185. The India net total now stands at Rs 229.50 crore, with India gross at Rs 273.10 crore. The film added Rs 10 lakh overseas for the day, taking cumulative overseas gross to Rs 61 crore. Worldwide gross is Rs 334.10 crore.
The daypart story
Occupancy is the more useful signal for distributors deciding whether to hold screens. Day 28 recorded 32,953 footfalls and 19.27% occupancy for the Hindi 2D version. But the average hides the real pattern:
- Morning shows: 11.83%
- Afternoon shows: 14.75%
- Evening shows: 19.92%
- Night shows: 30.58%
Night shows carried the day. That skew is typical for an adult-skewing action title in its fourth week: the audience is turning up for the late slot, not the family-friendly afternoon.
Weekly hold is the number to watch
The fourth week contributed Rs 6.70 crore to India net, down from Rs 19.35 crore in week three, Rs 55 crore in week two, and Rs 148.45 crore in week one. The film is retaining roughly a third of the previous week’s total in each successive frame, a normal late-run pattern for a big opener.
Within week four, Sunday was the high point at Rs 1.70 crore, and the film has since settled into a Rs 55-70 lakh daily band. With 28 days complete, the question for exhibitors is how many shows survive into week five against new releases.
What this means for screen marketers
For media planners and exhibition teams, late-run numbers are a scheduling input, not a victory lap. A film collecting Rs 60 lakh in week four can still make sense on variable costs if prints and marketing are already sunk, but the decision now hinges on revenue per show and daypart performance. The data points one way: prune the weak morning and afternoon slots before touching nights.
