Five days, one clear split
The re-release of Avengers: Endgame Encore collected Rs 23.86 crore net in India across its first five days, according to trade figures reported by Bollywood Hungama. A Friday start of Rs 6.07 crore was strong for a reissue. Saturday improved to Rs 7.31 crore, Sunday delivered Rs 6.37 crore, and the weekdays settled at Rs 1.90 crore on Monday and Rs 2.19 crore on Tuesday, when discounted pricing lifted business slightly.
Expectations had been higher after the advance booking rush, with some trade estimates pointing toward a Rs 10 crore opening day. That did not materialise. The report points to limited screen availability and muted spot bookings as reasons; a large section of the Marvel audience had booked early.
- Friday: Rs 6.07 crore
- Saturday: Rs 7.31 crore
- Sunday: Rs 6.37 crore
- Monday: Rs 1.90 crore
- Tuesday: Rs 2.19 crore
At this pace, the film should finish its first week in the Rs 27-28 crore range.
Premium screens did the heavy lifting
The number that should get distribution heads’ attention is the format split. IMAX delivered Rs 5.64 crore from only 34 screens over five days, which is approximately 23.65% of the five-day net total. Infinity Vision, a large-format experience making its debut with this release, contributed Rs 4.96 crore, roughly 20.82% of the total.
Together, those two premium formats accounted for Rs 10.61 crore, or 44.47% of the re-release’s net collections. That concentration suggests premium ticket pricing and screen scarcity are doing more revenue work than raw footfalls alone would show.
Why this matters for re-release economics
For a re-release, the premium-format number is not a vanity metric. Higher ticket prices mean a small share of seats can generate a disproportionate share of revenue. An exhibitor deciding how many IMAX or large-format shows to allocate is effectively deciding how much of a reissue’s box office to capture before the opening day even arrives.
It also changes the marketing calculation. Rather than selling a re-release as the same film again, the pitch can be built around the format upgrade: IMAX, Infinity Vision, or another premium auditorium. That is a concrete reason to leave home and pay a higher price.
The record race: one mark near, one far
The all-time Indian re-release record is not in immediate danger. Sanam Teri Kasam retains the top spot with roughly Rs 42 crore during its re-run. With Drishyam The Conclusion arriving in week two, Endgame Encore’s window will narrow before it can close that gap.
The Hollywood re-release record is much closer. Interstellar collected around Rs 29 crore in its February-March 2025 reissue. On its current trajectory, Endgame Encore should cross that mark by Sunday, October 4, or during the following weekdays.
The planner’s lens
For media planners and exhibition teams, the takeaway is to treat premium formats as their own inventory line in release projections. Allocate large-format screens early, model the higher average ticket price separately, and expect the premium contribution to set the ceiling for a re-release.
Watch week two closely. The second-week hold after Drishyam The Conclusion will show whether Endgame Encore is a premium-format event or a broader theatrical run.
