Ghamasaan reaches cinemas on Friday, 11 September. Tigmanshu Dhulia directs, Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi lead, and Jio Studios and Yaelstar Films are the banners — credits and date as listed in Wikipedia’s record of 2026 Hindi releases, read on 7 September. Three days out, the signals we track are strong enough to put the film in blockbuster territory, with a range wide enough to deserve the caveat.
What sits behind the number
The projection is built from the signals recorded on our desk this morning, not from trade chatter:
- Trailer: 17 million views in the first 24 hours.
- Search and social: Google Trends interest at 37 against a recent hit, roughly 3.95 lakh posts a day across X and Instagram, and 65 per cent of them reading positive.
- Booking intent: 15.1 lakh “interested” on BookMyShow — the single heaviest input in the model, and the one that most often decides whether a Hindi release opens big or merely opens.
- Music: 395 million views on the lead track.
- Capacity: 2,000 screens at four shows a day and 190 seats a show, or about 15.2 lakh seats a day, at an average ticket price of ₹190.
Converted to people rather than rupees, that is the number the model expects to turn up for the opening weekend:
How wide the range is
Day one comes out at ₹16.4 cr, with the tenth and ninetieth percentiles at ₹9.4 cr and ₹28.5 cr. Across the run the spread is wider still: ₹99 cr at the low end against ₹334 cr at the high one. Two things drive that width. Booking interest is heavy while the trailer’s cumulative view count is not yet on the desk, so the demand and supply sides of the model disagree with each other. And we have no audience polling on this title yet, so the third leg that usually narrows the estimate is missing.
Against the ₹60 cr budget-including-marketing figure on the desk, the midpoint is a little over three times cost. The low end still clears it. That is what a strong opener looks like before word of mouth exists.
What we watch next
- Final screen count. Two thousand screens is our working figure. Distributors settle the real number in the last 48 hours, and it moves day one directly.
- Advance sales through Thursday. Interest converts to tickets or it does not, and the conversion rate is the assumption most likely to be wrong in either direction.
- Occupancy on Saturday. A Friday number tells you about marketing. Saturday tells you whether the film works.
- Competition. Nothing on our calendar is set to take screens from it on the date, which is part of why the ceiling is high.
Every figure above carries the timestamp of the reading behind it and updates once a day at 09:00 IST until release, when the projection is frozen and set against the actual result. How Pulse works sets out the method.
