The second-day box office for The Vvaan – Force of the Forest looked soft in the morning. The more useful signal arrived by the last show.
The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah film collected Rs 11.00 crore nett on Day 2 across 6,887 shows, according to figures reported by India Today. Its India nett total now stands at Rs 19.00 crore, and worldwide gross has reached Rs 24.85 crore.
The curve is the story
Day 2 overall occupancy was 38.54%, but demand was heavily backloaded across the day:
- Morning: 16.54%
- Afternoon: 38.38%
- Evening: 38.92%
- Night: 54.92%
That is a 3.3x lift from morning to night. Media planners read this as a clear behavioural pattern: the title is behaving like an evening-out choice, not a family matinee.
City-level data reinforces the pattern. NCR ran the most shows, at 840, and delivered 41.0% occupancy overall, holding 52.0% across evening and night. Mumbai had 502 shows and 38.8% occupancy, peaking at 56.0% at night. Ahmedabad logged 332 shows and just 27.0% overall, yet still moved from 10.0% in the morning to 51.0% at night.
Why this matters for release teams
The improvement from Day 1 is real but modest. The film opened at Rs 8 crore nett across 6,746 shows. Day 2 added roughly Rs 3 crore nett on top of that. What matters more is where the audience is showing up. Late-slot urban inventory and late-day promotion are the natural places to protect the film’s momentum.
The competitive frame is less forgiving. Nani’s The Paradise, which opened September 24 after paid previews, had already reached Rs 98.50 crore worldwide gross by its Day 2, including Rs 61.15 crore India nett across 17,681 shows. Hanuman Ansh is still holding in its seventh week with Rs 389.85 crore worldwide gross.
Reception and outlook
India Today’s review gave the film 2 stars, noting the folk-tale elements are there but the film “keeps adding to the pot instead of letting the original flavours come through.” The cast also includes Anup Soni, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari and Maniesh Paul.
For now, The Vvaan is finding a narrow lane: a modest opener whose night shows are doing most of the work.
