Udta Teer has crossed the Rs 67.06 cr worldwide mark, but the more telling day-13 number is the direction: Rs 1.20 cr net in India, down 25% from Tuesday’s Rs 1.60 cr. The spy comedy is now in the hardest stretch of its run, with Ramayana: Rise of a Legend arriving in cinemas on Thursday.
Day-13 math
Estimates compiled by Sacnilk and reported by The Times of India put the film at 4,912 shows on Wednesday, with roughly 92,968 tickets sold. That works out to about Rs 24,400 net per show before Ramayana entered the market.
- Day 13 India net: Rs 1.20 cr, down 25% day-on-day
- India net total: Rs 46.25 cr; domestic gross Rs 55.06 cr
- Overseas gross: Rs 12 cr, including Rs 25 lakh on day 13
- Worldwide gross: Rs 67.06 cr
Hindi 2D occupancy was only 10.29% overall. Morning shows were the weakest at 5.23%, followed by 8.31% in afternoon and 9.08% in evening. Night shows did the heavy lifting at 16.46%, a split that matters for anyone buying around this title.
Two-week curve shows the slowdown
The day-13 number looks small partly because the opening week did the work. Between days 1 and 7, Udta Teer collected Rs 30.90 cr net in India. Days 8 to 13 added just Rs 15.35 cr. That means the first week has delivered roughly two-thirds of all India net collections so far; the second week is running at half the first week’s pace.
Holdover decay is normal, but the speed matters. A 25% single-day drop on a weekday usually signals that screens and footfalls are being reallocated before the next major release, not merely that demand has softened.
Ramayana changes the screen equation
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opened on November 5 with an estimated Rs 64.85 cr India net and Rs 77.50 cr domestic gross on day one across languages. To put that in perspective: its first-day India net is larger than Udta Teer’s entire India net so far.
That resets exhibitor math. Multiplexes and single screens tend to follow per-show revenue, and an event opener of this size will likely compress show counts for mid-budget holdovers through the second weekend. The question is no longer whether Udta Teer is profitable; it is how many screens it retains.
What planners should do with this
Media planners should not confuse total collections with future demand. The operational signal is the night-show skew. If you are buying spot inventory around a holdover title, late evening and night placements are where the audience is still visible; daytime reach on this title has thinned sharply.
Watch the weekend screen count. That is the real forward indicator. Directed by Akash Kaushik and starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, Udta Teer has enough total now to be counted as a modest performer; the next five days will decide whether it gets to add meaningfully to that number.
