Netflix’s Universal 2027 slate: the 10-month window explained

The 10-month window behind Netflix's Universal slate

Netflix’s first-window arrangement with Universal Pictures has become one of the streamer’s more reliable sources of big US films. A new schedule maps how titles from Universal, Focus Features, Illumination and DreamWorks will move through the system in 2026, 2027 and beyond.

The windowing math

Under the deal, Universal films typically play in theatres for up to 120 days. Peacock then streams the film for four months, Netflix takes over for the next ten months, and Peacock gets a final four-month run. The dates in the schedule are estimates built from that ten-month Netflix window, not confirmed removal dates from the platform.

What is leaving Netflix

Current Universal titles on Netflix have exit dates stretching from M3GAN 2.0 leaving 26 November 2026 through Lorne leaving 5 August 2027. High-profile titles in that cycle include Wicked: For Good (leaving 20 May 2027), Jurassic World: Rebirth (28 December 2026) and How to Train Your Dragon (10 December 2026).

Still to come before 2027

  • Reminders of Him — arrives 10 November 2026, leaves 10 September 2027
  • The Super Mario Galaxy Movie — arrives 30 November 2026, leaves 30 September 2027
  • Pressure — arrives 30 November 2026, leaves 30 September 2027
  • Girls Like Girls — expected around 14 December 2026, estimated exit 14 October 2027

The 2027 live-action slate

Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is expected on Netflix 9 February 2027, with an estimated removal date of 9 December 2027. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is estimated for June or July 2027, after a Peacock run expected around February or March 2027. Later in the year come Focker-in-Law (around July 2027) and Robert Eggers’s Werwulf (around August 2027).

Animated films and what follows

Illumination’s Minions & Monsters is expected on Netflix on 28 February 2027 and is estimated to leave on 28 December 2027. DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island is estimated for May 2027. Focus Features also lists several 2027 titles without firm dates, including The Bell Jar, Ezekiel Moss and The Fisherman, while a third Super Mario movie is slated for early 2029.

Why the calendar matters

For media planners and entertainment marketers, this is one of the more predictable studio pipelines in US streaming. A ten-month Netflix window means a big theatrical release tends to land on the service about eight months after its theatrical debut, creating a moment that can be planned for acquisition, win-back or retention campaigns. The key caveat is geographic: the source stresses that these timelines are for the United States only, because Universal has different arrangements with Netflix in other markets.

How to use it

Mark the high-interest 2027 titles—especially Nolan’s The Odyssey and the Minions franchise entry—well before their Netflix debuts, and set reminders for the estimated exit dates before committing spend against catalogue placements. Because the dates are estimates, treat them as planning guides rather than contractual deadlines.
