Ramayana pre-sales hit Rs 75 crore worldwide

The first instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is already generating blockbuster-scale pre-sales. By 11 am on Monday, the Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash starrer had banked roughly Rs 75 crore in worldwide advance gross, according to trade data cited by Bollywood Bubble. The film opens in theatres across languages on 5 November.

India: 9 lakh tickets and a widening language base

Domestic pre-sales are broad rather than one-market. The film sold about 9.02 lakh tickets across 36,211 shows in 532 cities. Gross domestic advance stood at Rs 47.62 crore; stripping out blocked seats, the paid number was Rs 38.03 crore.

Momentum is still building. Since the 6 am cut-off on Monday alone, the title added Rs 1.66 crore. Hindi markets are leading ticket sales, while the Kannada and Telugu versions are now gaining pace. That split matters: the film will need the South languages to keep accelerating if it is to behave like a true pan-India opener rather than a Hindi-led event with dubbed legs.

At Rs 38.03 crore from 9.02 lakh tickets, the average pre-booked ticket works out to roughly Rs 421. That suggests the early audience is disproportionately premium-format and IMAX-heavy, not purely family walk-ins.

Overseas: paid previews set the tone

Overseas markets added $3.9 million in advance bookings. The US is the standout, contributing more than $1.5 million from paid previews alone. That is meaningful because preview audiences pay early and at a premium, giving distributors a read on committed demand before the official opening.

What the number means

Advance gross is not the weekend and certainly not the final. It is the money already committed before the first public show, which makes it an early temperature check on awareness, pricing and format mix. For entertainment marketers and media planners, three signals are worth following:

  • Hindi is leading, but South-language acceleration will decide the weekend multiple.
  • The Rs 421-ish average ticket price points to premium formats doing the heavy lifting early.
  • The paid-preview strength in the US is an early gauge of diaspora demand.

Produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash under Prime Focus Studios, Monster Mind Creations and DNEG, with music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, the film is the first of a two-part plan; the second instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2027. That structure turns this opening into a baseline, not just a standalone result.
