Venkatesh Daggubati and Srinidhi Shetty’s Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 – AK 47 opened at Rs 10.50 crore and added Rs 11.75 crore on day two, taking the Indian gross to Rs 22.25 crore in two days, according to Pinkvilla trade estimates. Overseas contributed another USD 1.15 million, lifting the worldwide two-day cume to Rs 33.25 crore.
That is not a washout. It is also not the launch a high-budget Venkatesh film needs.
Territory split: Telugu belt does the work
- Telugu markets: Rs 18.15 crore
- Karnataka: Rs 3 crore
- Rest of India: Rs 1.10 crore
- Overseas: USD 1.15 million
That concentration is normal for a Telugu star vehicle, but it leaves the outcome tied to Nizam and Andhra holding power. Karnataka and the rest of India are supporting markets here, not rescue markets.
Why the weekend projection is a warning
Pinkvilla estimates the India weekend will land around Rs 32 to 35 crore. The day-two spike was only nominal — Rs 10.50 crore to Rs 11.75 crore — so the weekend total is being built on a modest base. Trade tracking goes further: the distributor stands to lose heavily unless the film posts what it calls miraculous holds in the next few days.
For media planners and exhibition teams, that changes the metric. The opening is already public. The number that matters now is Monday retention after the weekend.
The next data point
AK 47 is a family comedy-action pitch from Venkatesh, which means Sunday could improve if word of mouth travels. If it does not, the weekday fall will be decisive. A low start is not fatal by itself; a weak hold after it is.
