Two DreamWorks preschool series are leaving Netflix

Netflix’s DreamWorks Animation catalog keeps thinning. In November 2026, two preschool series are set to leave the service globally: Rhyme Time Town and Dragons: Rescue Riders, along with their spinoffs and specials.

What’s leaving and when

  • November 15: Rhyme Time Town seasons 1–2 and Rhyme Time Town Singalongs.
  • November 24: Dragons: Rescue Riders seasons 1–2 and three specials: Hunt for the Golden Dragon, Secrets of the Songwing and Huttsgalor Holiday.

Rhyme Time Town first arrived in June 2020, added its singalong spinoff that December and released a 15-episode second season in June 2021. Dragons: Rescue Riders rolled out 26 episodes across two seasons from September 2019 to February 2020, followed by three 46-minute specials.

The Netflix Original label isn’t ownership

Both titles carry the Netflix Original badge, but that badge describes a fixed-period exclusive licensing arrangement, not IP ownership. DreamWorks Animation Television and parent NBCUniversal retained long-term rights, and those deals have been expiring one by one.

That’s the key read for media planners and streaming professionals: the Netflix kids catalog has been partly rented, not owned. When a window closes, the title becomes a negotiating chip in NBCUniversal’s own streaming strategy.

A wider pullback to Peacock

Netflix built its preschool bench partly on DreamWorks deals, and NBCUniversal’s patience with those licences has ended. Dragons: Rescue Riders already moved on once: in November 2021, DreamWorks relaunched it on Peacock as Dragons Rescue Riders: Heroes of the Sky, where it ran four more seasons through September 2022. The Netflix-era seasons never streamed elsewhere in the US, so Peacock is the obvious landing spot.

Why the dates matter

DreamWorks removals have typically landed five to six years after a title’s final season. That pattern has held across 2026: the Captain Underpants franchise left in January and appeared on Peacock the same day, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power departed in February, and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts in June. The Spooky Tale of Captain Underpants Hack-a-ween is scheduled for December 4.

The pattern isn’t firm. Spirit Riding Free was extended and is now set through 2030, and The Boss Baby: Back in Business was expected to leave November 17 but is absent from the removals list, suggesting all four seasons are staying for now.

What to do with it

For buyers and planners, kids and family reach on Netflix can shift when licensed DreamWorks titles depart. Peacock is the likely destination, but no new streaming home has been announced for the departing Netflix-era episodes. In the meantime, the Netflix seasons and specials are available to buy digitally on Apple TV and Prime Video.
