DIRECTV is pushing further into streaming aggregation with a promotion that turns a pay-TV subscription into a single bill for live channels and major streaming apps. New qualifying subscribers who take a Genre Pack and lease a Gemini streaming device can get 12 months of Netflix Standard with Ads at no extra cost.
After the first year, the Netflix subscription renews at its regular price—currently $8.99 per month—unless the customer cancels. Eligibility also requires maintaining both the Genre Pack and the Gemini device, which carries a $10 monthly lease.
What the bundle includes
The offer is built around DIRECTV’s Genre Packs, curated groups of live television channels organized by interest, from news and entertainment to sports. Packaging starts at $20.99 per month. The MyEntertainment Genre Pack is $42.99 monthly, or $52.99 with the Gemini device.

The business logic

Put a reminder before month 12 if the intent is to cancel. The MultiView feature works only on compatible TVs and includes channels in the DIRECTV plan, so it should be treated as a device-specific benefit rather than a universal one.
