Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy-thriller comedy Udta Teer has closed its opening weekend with a reported ₹19.45 crore in India net collections, according to Sacnilk figures cited by Mint. The Sunday number was tallied at 10.30 pm, so it is not final, but it is enough to put the film ahead of nine other 2026 releases on their reported initial collections.
The real signal is in the day-to-day movement. Udta Teer opened at ₹4.10 crore on Friday, rose to ₹7.25 crore on Saturday and added ₹8.10 crore by late Sunday. That is a ₹3.15 crore jump from Day 1 to Day 2, and a further ₹0.85 crore by the time Sunday’s late-evening figures were reported. For a star-led title, a Saturday rise like that is the first sign that word of mouth is working.
The weekend in numbers
- Day 1: ₹4.10 crore
- Day 2: ₹7.25 crore
- Day 3 (reported by 10.30 pm): ₹8.10 crore
- Opening weekend total: ₹19.45 crore India net
Nine films, one footnote
According to the Sacnilk figures cited in the report, Udta Teer has surpassed the reported initial collections of nine major 2026 releases: Prahaar, Nayi Naveli, Jailer 2, Daayra, Haiwaan, Haunted 3D, Chand Mera Dil, The Kerala Story 2 and Mardaani 3.
That ranking needs context. The figures cover different collection periods; Jailer 2’s number, for example, is reported over four days. Buyers should treat the nine-film list as a rough benchmark rather than a strict like-for-like league table.
Why the opening matters
The weekend gives the trade an early read on the audience’s appetite for the Khurrana–Khan pairing and on the commercial floor for a debut director. Kaushik, who wrote Housefull 4, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is directing for the first time. The film is the fourth collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment after The Lunchbox, Kill and Gyaarah Gyaarah.
The supporting cast adds familiar faces: Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, the late Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Sandeep Anand. Sachin-Jigar have composed the music, and the producer credits include Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain.
What to watch next
For media planners, Monday’s hold is the next number that matters. A modest weekday drop would indicate that Udta Teer is a longer theatrical window rather than a one-weekend event. Check collection windows before quoting the ranking, and remember that Sunday’s figure is still partial.
