Jayasurya and Vinayakan’s Malayalam fantasy comedy-thriller Titans recovered 20% on its first Saturday, but the base remains small. The film collected Rs 42 lakh in India net on October 24, up from Rs 35 lakh on Friday, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India. After three days, total India net stands at Rs 1.42 crore, with gross at Rs 1.64 crore.
Day 3 by the numbers
- Saturday India net: Rs 42 lakh, a 20% rise from Friday
- Cumulative India net after three days: Rs 1.42 crore
- India gross: Rs 1.64 crore
- Per-show average: Rs 5,866 across 716 shows
- Saturday footfalls: 30,941; total footfalls: 107,059
The per-show average matters more than the daily total here. At Rs 5,866 a show, screens are not running anywhere close to capacity, and the recovery is concentrated in one part of the day.
Why the recovery is modest
Thursday’s opening was Rs 65 lakh; Friday dropped by nearly half to Rs 35 lakh. Saturday’s Rs 42 lakh reverses the decline but remains well below the opening day, which is still Titans’ best single-day figure. Occupancy data confirms the limited demand: overall Malayalam 2D occupancy on Saturday was 14.92%. Morning shows managed 5.58%, afternoon 10%, evening 14.75%. The clear outlier was night shows at 22.42%.
That showtime curve is useful for distributors and exhibitors. Demand is concentrated in late screenings, so marketing and show inventory should follow the audience that is already turning up. But one day of recovery does not rewrite the first-weekend story.
What to watch next
For media planners and film-business trackers, Sunday is the next signal. If Titans builds on the Saturday uptick and moves closer to its opening-day number, the weekend can be read as a slow recovery. If it stalls near Rs 42–45 lakh, the film will be looking at a modest run with a wide gap between its opening figure and everything after.
Directed by Prince Joy and written by James Sebastian, the film stars Jayasurya as Antony Yakuza and Vinayakan as Rejimon. Its opening weekend is a small test case for how a mid-range Malayalam title performs when initial occupancy is thin and only the night show works. Box office figures are industry estimates and may be revised as official data is updated.
