Second Saturday reverses the slide
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 added Rs 24.15 crore in India net collections on Day 10, a 66.6% lift over Friday’s Rs 14.50 crore, according to trade data cited by The Times of India. The recovery comes after a clear slowdown: the film had slipped to Rs 17.15 crore by Day 8 and Rs 14.50 crore on Day 9.
With the Saturday uptick, cumulative India net stands at Rs 373 crore and worldwide gross at Rs 666.30 crore. Overseas gross contributed Rs 10 crore on Saturday, taking the international total to Rs 229.50 crore.
Where the money is coming from
- Tamil version: Rs 16.25 crore from 5,545 shows at 46.2% occupancy.
- Telugu: Rs 4.40 crore from 1,835 shows at 38.4% occupancy.
- Hindi: Rs 2.90 crore from 4,008 shows at 20.0% occupancy.
- Kannada: Rs 0.60 crore from 203 shows at 41.0% occupancy.
State-wise, Tamil Nadu grossed Rs 12 crore, Karnataka added Rs 5.50 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together brought Rs 4.50 crore, Kerala Rs 2.75 crore, and the rest of India Rs 3.50 crore. Day 10 footfalls touched 1,610,496; cumulative attendance crossed 24.67 million.
Why the language split matters
For media planners and distributors, the occupancy gap is the story. Hindi is running on 4,008 screens, nearly as many as the Tamil version’s 5,545, yet it returned less than one-fifth of the Tamil collection at less than half the occupancy. That points to screen coverage without enough demand in Hindi, while Tamil remains the profitable core.
The day-part data reinforces this. Tamil night shows reached 65.46% occupancy, while Hindi night shows hit 37.33%. If Sunday holds, exhibitors have a reason to protect Tamil and Telugu screens into week three. If Hindi stays near 20%, marketing investment should follow the audience rather than the raw screen count.
Second-weekend recovery is a stronger signal than the cumulative figure alone. A huge worldwide gross can mask a top-heavy opening, but a 66.6% Day 10 jump shows the film is finding audiences again after the mid-week trough.
