Zee Studios has dated Silaa, Omung Kumar’s film starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sadia Khateeb, for February 5, 2027, according to Deadline.
The announcement, made more than three months before release, gives the studio a long window to build a campaign around a story it has deliberately kept under wraps.
What the film is
The official pitch is “intense romance, gripping mystery and high-octane action” set against Kashmir and Vietnam. Plot details are being withheld, but the producers have confirmed the story centres on the relationship between Virat, played by Rane, and Silaa, played by Khateeb, which takes a tragic and violent turn.
“Silaa has been one of the most challenging and exciting journeys for me as an actor,” Rane said. “There is so much more to Virat than what meets the eye; he is a man driven by love, but when circumstances take an unexpected turn, he is pushed into a world where survival becomes just as important as finding the person he loves.”
Kumar, who directs and produces with Himanshu Tiwari, Ajay Singh, Dhananjay Singh and Vanita Garud Kumar, said the film is built to put emotion at the centre of a visually expansive world.
Why the date matters
For Zee Studios, the February 5 date is not just a calendar slot. It is the first hard fact in a campaign that can sequence its reveals over a full quarter: first-look posters are already out, the plot is being protected, and the trailer can be positioned as the payoff rather than an early giveaway.
- The genre blend lets the studio cut separate tracks for romance, action and thriller audiences.
- Kashmir and Vietnam give the campaign a scale-led visual identity beyond star power.
- Plot secrecy raises the value of the trailer when it does drop.
“With Silaa, we wanted to create a film that takes audiences on a roller-coaster ride, where romance, action, mystery and adventure come together in an unexpected way,” Kumar said.
What media planners should watch next
The next scheduled signal will be the trailer, because with the plot hidden, its tone and genre weighting will determine how broad the audience pool is. Until then, the first posters and the mention of two distinct landscapes are the only creative assets planners can benchmark.
The date itself also lets exhibitors and distributors start holding screens and positioning the film against competing early-2027 titles, though no screen count or budget was disclosed in Deadline’s report.
Zee Studios made the film with Blue Lotus Pictures and Stark Entertainment; Hemant Tiwari is co-producer. For marketers, the takeaway is sequencing: this campaign is selling genre and mood first, character second, and story last.
