Ranabaali week one: ₹45.2 cr net, ₹63.65 cr global

Ranabaali has closed seven days with ₹45.20 crore in India net collections, but the number trade watchers are weighing is Thursday’s hold. The historical drama starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna earned ₹3.15 crore net on day seven, down 42.7% from Wednesday’s ₹5.50 crore, according to Sacnilk data carried by United News Bangladesh.

First-week totals

Worldwide gross after week one stands at ₹63.65 crore. Domestic gross is ₹52.55 crore and overseas contributes ₹11.10 crore. That puts the overseas share at about 17% of the global gross, a modest base for a Telugu historical drama with two recognisable leads.

The domestic gross-to-net ratio is also a standard conversion: ₹45.20 crore net translates to ₹52.55 crore gross.

The day-wise shape of the week

  • Day 1, Friday: ₹9.25 crore net from 2,515 shows; 57% occupancy.
  • Day 2, Saturday: ₹7.30 crore net.
  • Day 3, Sunday: ₹7.50 crore net.
  • Day 4, Monday: ₹5.40 crore net.
  • Day 5, Tuesday: ₹7.10 crore net.
  • Day 6, Wednesday: ₹5.50 crore net.
  • Day 7, Thursday: ₹3.15 crore net from 2,112 shows at 31% overall occupancy.

The Tuesday bump kept the first week from looking purely front-loaded, but Wednesday and Thursday went the other way. Show counts also slipped from 2,232 on Wednesday to 2,112 on Thursday, a sign that exhibitors are already rightsizing the film before the second weekend.

What the occupancy tells planners

The Telugu 2D version, which is the primary driver, recorded 29.40% occupancy on Thursday. Mornings were soft at 19.85%, afternoons improved to 31.54%, and evenings peaked at 33.15%. That evening lift is useful for media planners: the film is still pulling in post-work audiences, but it is not filling daytime capacity.

In ticket terms, Ranabaali sold an estimated 271,563 tickets on Thursday, taking its seven-day estimated total to about 3.58 million.

Why the second week matters more than the first

With mixed reviews from audiences and critics, Ranabaali’s opening week is not a breakout number. The challenge now is whether the title can hold enough shows and daily collections to remain a viable screen for exhibitors in week two and beyond.

For entertainment marketers and media planners, the tracking list is simple:

  • Watch whether daily net collections stay above the Thursday base of ₹3.15 crore into the second weekend.
  • Track show count and occupancy for the Telugu 2D version by showtime, not just the daily total.
  • Compare the overseas contribution, currently ₹11.10 crore, against similar Telugu releases to judge whether the period drama is travelling.

Ranabaali is set against the Madras Famine of 1876–78 and follows a horseman resisting colonial exploitation in Rayalaseema. That historical canvas gives it a distinct positioning, but the box office so far suggests the film’s commercial momentum depends less on the concept and more on whether the mixed word of mouth converts into a hold.
