Jailer 2 hits Rs 320.86 cr India net after Day 8

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the Rs 320-crore mark in India net collections by its second Thursday, with early estimates putting the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel at Rs 320.86 crore. Worldwide, the film is sitting at Rs 576.45 crore gross, according to Sacnilk data reported by The Times of India.

The worldwide total reflects a Rs 5 crore overseas addition on Day 7, which took the international gross to Rs 205 crore.

Day 8 early count

The film added an estimated Rs 3.66 crore net in India on Day 8, Thursday, October 22, across 5,024 shows. That is provisional; final numbers could shift. The domestic gross currently stands at Rs 375.77 crore.

The first seven days had closed at Rs 317.20 crore India net. Day-wise first-week collections show a front-loaded but broadly stable run:

  • Day 1: Rs 59.70 crore
  • Day 2: Rs 37.10 crore
  • Day 3: Rs 47.25 crore
  • Day 4: Rs 55.85 crore
  • Day 5: Rs 42.35 crore
  • Day 6: Rs 46.80 crore
  • Day 7: Rs 28.15 crore

Tamil is doing the heavy lifting

Of the Day 8 early total, the Tamil version contributed an estimated Rs 2.35 crore net from 2,327 shows, the Telugu version Rs 0.89 crore from 931 shows, and the Hindi version Rs 0.42 crore from 1,766 shows. That makes Tamil roughly 64% of the day’s India net despite accounting for under half the show count.

The contrast is most useful for media planners: Hindi has wide placement—1,766 shows—but the lowest throughput, while Tamil is converting a smaller number of screens into much higher collections. The Southern markets are not just the film’s base; they are its margin.

What the second week decides

The first Monday-to-Thursday stretch is where big openers separate from leggy hits. Jailer 2 has already banked a strong opening week, but the next two days will show whether it can hold through the second weekend. The milestone being watched is Rs 350 crore in domestic net.

For distribution and marketing teams, the actionable signal is language-level allocation: where the per-show yield is strong, show counts can be protected or expanded; where it is weak, marketing spend may be better aimed at filling existing screens than adding more. The provisional Day 8 numbers suggest Tamil screens deserve the first call.
