Rajkummar Rao’s legal drama Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story has reached a worldwide gross of Rs 21.40 crore after six days, but Wednesday’s numbers suggest the theatrical run is now in a hold-and-see phase.
Day 6 brought Rs 1.50 crore in India net, a 54.5% fall from Tuesday’s Rs 3.30 crore, according to Sacnilk data published by The Times of India. The six-day split: India net Rs 15.95 crore, domestic gross Rs 19.00 crore, and overseas gross Rs 2.40 crore. The film played 3,231 shows on Wednesday with 19.15% occupancy and 78,244 footfalls; total six-day footfalls stand at 718,653.
Why the Tuesday-to-Wednesday swing matters
For exhibitors and media planners, the more actionable number than the Rs 21.40 crore total is the retention curve. A film that recovers on Tuesday and then gives back more than half of that gain on Wednesday is showing a soft weekday hold.
The day-wise India net paints the picture:
- Friday: Rs 2.35 cr
- Saturday: Rs 3.15 cr
- Sunday: Rs 3.65 cr
- Monday: Rs 2.00 cr
- Tuesday: Rs 3.30 cr
- Wednesday: Rs 1.50 cr
Sunday remains the peak, and Wednesday is the weakest day since the opening Friday. A 54.5% mid-week drop after a Tuesday bump indicates that the Tuesday demand did not carry into the next day, which usually matters more to screen allocation than the cumulative gross does.
What to watch next
For cinema advertisers and planners, 718,653 six-day footfalls is a useful audience-reach input, separate from the gross. It tells you how many people actually entered theatres, not just how much they paid. That is the metric to track if the film’s screen count starts shrinking.
The next checkpoint is Friday’s show count. If occupancy stays below 20%, exhibitors will likely trim shows; if the weekend rebounds, the film can still build a second-weekend base. Until then, read the Rs 21.40 crore worldwide gross as an early marker, not a verdict.
